Born in Sao Paulo, Brazil, Solange Gomes began her fine arts training at the Royal Ballet Academy and continued to study several contemporary dance techniques. She has a Bachelors Degree in Physical Education and a Degree in Piano. In Brazil she founded the Espaco Vivo Music School and later the Piano Studio Arts Center.
Solange began her flamenco studies in Brazil, taking workshops and/or ongoing classes from several flamenco artists such as Omayra Amaya, Joaquim Encinias, Alejandro Granados, Pedro Blasquez, Juanaire, La Meira, La Clara, Aurora Reyes, Katerina Tomas, and Rafael Campallo, among others. She has performed and worked with musicians such as Mariano Manzella, Yiyi, Antonio Andrade, Santiago Martin, and Humberto Sales.
Since moving to the United States from Brazil in 1997, Solange has worked with Ballet West Academy, Jacqueline’s School of Ballet, Northern California Ballet (CA), Footlight Dance Centre (ID), Salt Lake Community College, and the University of Utah.
Solange teaches at the RDT Community School and Weber State University, directs Pasion Flamenca Dance Group and Tablado Dance Company, and serves on the Utah Arts Council's Dance Arts Advisory Panel.
